Fifty-nine percent of SEB employees are aged between 31 and 45 years old,
while 21 per cent are between 20 and 30 years old, while the remaining 20
percent are those aged over 45 years old.
It employs 35 nationalities, with 70 percent of the workforce are male an 30
percent women, 18 percent of its management are held by women, while 29 percent
of the skilled workforce (combinations of technical and professional expertise
such as engineers, accounts, managers and HR executive) are women.
According to the Education Ministry's Malaysia Education Blueprint (Higher
Education), there will be an increase in demand for an additional 1.3 million
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) workers by 2020 in the
12 National Key Economic Areas identified under the government's Economic
Transformation Programme.
Under the 2019 Budget, the government through Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng
has set up aRM30 million TVET fund to create a more competitive environment as
well as training programmes to fulfil industry need.
TVET programmes in the country are offered at certificate, diploma and degree
levels by seven ministries that include the Education Ministry, which offers
the most TVET programmes to the highest number of students.
It is estimated that 98,000 students sign up yearly to enrol in TVET
programmes at 34 polytechnic institutions in the nation.
An estimated 1.5 million jobs are expected by 2020, of which 60 per cent will
require TVET skills, an employment sector where SEB sits.
The government has also decided that there is a need to lessen the nation's
dependency on foreign workers and this opens up even more opportunities to TVET
graduates.
TVET offers a rich array of programmes in many fields including automotive,
culinary arts, electronics, engineering, entrepreneurship and journalism. It
involves learning in class and hands-on training, which provide knowledge and
skills for employment.
TVET students are equipped with specific skills in a specific field. Early
exposure to practical and on-the-job-training ready them for the workplace.
With a renewed focus and direction given by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir
Mohamad to fulfil the national agenda of Vision 2020, TVET education strives to
provide a skilled Malaysian workforce which can benefit the industry.

SME100 Winners Among the Country's Fastest Growing

medium enterprises (SME) sector inMalaysia remain buoyant, with participants of
the SME100 survey registering a 73.1 percent growth in revenue and a 97.67
percent growth in profit.

sectors. Professional and Business Services sector took a great leap to the
first spot propelled by its relative resilience and variable costs structure.

MGBF Special Report: PNB to back companies with global potential
Fund's confidence in top homegrown multinationals bodes well for long term
prospects
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan. 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the
Malaysia Global Business Forum (MGBF) research team,Malaysia's biggest fund
manager Permodalan Nasional (PNB) should remain committed to local companies
with global competitiveness and opportunities despite challenging market
conditions.
Under the new federal government, PNB is now headed by former Bank Negara
Malaysia (BNM) governor, Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, who was appointed the
fund's group chairman last July. Although some analysts say that PNB may take a
more prudent approach under Zeti, the research team feels that PNB will still
invest heavily in companies with strategic national interests.
With stakes in some of the largest corporate players in every sector, all
eyes will be on PNB's corporate moves in the next few years under the new
government. Investors will monitor any possible shifts in the fund's investment
strategy.
Approximately 70% of PNB's funds are invested in the local stock market and
public equities. They include industry giants such as Sapura Energy Bhd (oil &
gas), Malayan Banking Bhd (financial), Axiata Group Bhd (telecommunications),
Sime Darby Bhd (diversified) and SP Setia Bhd (property).
The companies stated above are prime examples of PNB's investments in
companies with global potential.
Despite the volatile oil and gas market, PNB is still confident in Sapura
Energy's turnaround plans and the company's potential for returns in the long
term. Last year, Sapura Energy raisedRM4 billion from a rights issue that will
be utilised to pare down debts. In November, Sapura Energy announced the
proposed sale of a 50% stake in its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sapura Upstream to
Austria's OMV AG (OMV). The company's original cost of investment in the assets
isUS$ 896m (RM3.7bn).
The deal will translate into a disposal gain of RM2.5bn (net of RM39m
proposed transaction expenses). The proceeds from this deal will also be used
to reduce its debts.
In 2017, Malayan Banking (Maybank) achieved a historical corporate milestone.
The bank's total market capitalisation crossed theRM100 billion mark. It was
the first company on Bursa Malaysia to hit this landmark.
In 3Q18, Maybank posted loans growth of 4% year-on-year (y-o-y), led by its
Malaysian operations (+5%). Its growing business segment included
consumer-based loans (+7%), specifically mortgages (+8%), auto loans (+5%) and
unit trust financing (+7%).
In 2017, Sime Darby went through a major restructuring exercise to create
more long term growth and value for investors. It spun off its plantation and
property businesses that are now separate listed entities on the main market of
Bursa Malaysia.
Only about 15% of group revenue comes from Malaysia, while 70% of its
20,000-strong workforce is based overseas.
SP Setia is an established property giant with not only major projects in
Malaysia, but also overseas such as the prestigious Battersea Power Station
development inLondon, a joint venture with Sime Darby and the Employees
Provident Fund (EPF).
Last month, it was announced that SP Setia and Sime Darby Property will be
selling their stake in the Battersea Power Station project forRM8.351 billion
(1.583 billionpound) to PNB-Kwasa International 2 Ltd, a joint venture vehicle
between PNB and EPF. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first
quarter of 2019.

Daily Associated News' interview with CEO of WikiLeaks Korea: National Assembly Forum on Economic Policy Directions in Moon Jae-in Administration's 3rd Year

Korea's gross national income (GNI) per capita has officially exceeded $30,000
inMoon Jae-in's 3rd year of administration. Meanwhile government policies
related to labor, financial, corporation and economy are still key
concerns of Koreans.
This policy seminar on proposal of a solution to alleviate job insecurity, as
well as boosting economic growth of the Republic of Korea, is attracting
attention as to whether the forum in the National Assemblywill be a solution.

Q : What are the economic achievements of Moon Jae-In Administration for the
past 2 years?
Moon Administration which started from May 2017 just entered its 3rd year.
One ofits most notable economic records is that GNI per capita exceeded $30,000.
The Gross National Income (GNI) per capita of Korea, which was $28,000 when
the administrationstarted, is assessed to have exceeded $30,000 threshold at
the end of last year.
Q : What are the factors to impede economic growth of a country so far? Can
you provide an example in terms of growth rate, employment, exports, etc.?
It is indicated that there are many barriers lying ahead for Korea in moving
toward GNI per capita of $40,000 and $50,000. Its growth rate is currently
balking at 2%, and its employment and exports are struggling amid adversities.
Experts point out that itsoutdating industrial structure, ever widening gap of
income inequality, low birth rate and fast aging population are crippling
Korean economy.
As revisions of various laws and investigations were aimed at large companies
such as Samsung, Hyundai, SK, LG, Korean Air and Asiana, which are called
'heart of Korean economy', Korean companies have been discouraged, some argue
that policy shift is urgently needed to boost the morale and entrepreneurship
of Korean companies.
Q: What topics will be focused on and discussed at the forum?
Professor Seung-wook Kim of Chung Ang University will make presentation on
'Merits and Demerits of Jae-in Moon Administration's Economic Policies So Far
and Direction for its 3rd Year in Office'.
In addition, Professor Ki-sung Park of Sungshin Women's University will make
presentation on "Status of Government's Labor Policy So Far and its Future
Directions", and Professor on Special Assignment, Jung-ho Kim of Yonsei
University will present on 'Government Directions on Institutions for
Companies'.
Besides, Jung-geun Oh, Chairman of Asian Finance Society, will present on
'Global Financial Market and Government Direction for Financial Policies in the

"A Thousand Days of Change" -- Mulaika's Maiden Solo Exhibition
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Art Gallery
Creative Space is currently hosting the works of Mulaika Nordin, the youngest
artist in the history for its program for emerging artists untilMay 26, 2019.
Mulaika's, currently 15 years old, first solo exhibition is titled "A Thousand
