KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Dec. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The small and medium enterprises (SME) sector inMalaysia remain buoyant, with participants of the SME100 survey registering a 14.54 percent growth in revenue and a 6.93 percent growth in profit. This contrasts sharply with the GDP growth projection of 5.2 percent for the country as a whole.   <https://photos.prnasia.com/prnh/20171220/2019445-1> SME100™ Awards 2017 – Malaysia's Fast Moving Companies Recipients The SME100 survey is conducted by SME Magazine, with the top 100 companies by business performance recognised with the SME100 awards. The survey and awards are conducted every year since 2009. This year, the SME100 awards are officiated by Dato'Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Minister of International Trade and Industry II. "Despite the global headwinds, our SMEs are gaining grounds. Much of these are the result of pent-up demands following several years of economic uncertainty, and a renewed regional focus with the AEC kicking in," says Dato' William Ng, managing director of Business Media International, the publishers of SME Magazine. In officiating the awards, Dato' Seri Ong Ka Chuan called for SMEs to embrace the Fourth Industry Revolution. "Moving forward, SMEs must scale their operations and their capability through the use of technology. The government is committed to helping our businesses to adopt technology, and embrace the digital and innovation economy," he said. TECHNOLOGY SECTOR CONTINUES TO LEAD Among the winners that make up the SME100 Awards, 19 percent came from the ICT and telecommunications sector, followed by 11 percent from the transportation and logistics sector, with furniture and wood-based industry in the third place with 9 percent of the winning companies. The construction, property development and building materials sector saw a tumble, dropping from occupying 15 spots in the ranking to only 6 companies represented in the SME100 this year. The oil and gas, mining and energy sector, which claimed third place in 2016, fell to sixth place with only 7 companies representing the industry, less than half of the previous year. "It is quite clear that while the oil and gas and construction sectors are currently experiencing a correction phase, the technology sector is growing rapidly. A surprise resurgence is our furniture and wood-based industry, which has also seen robust growth following increased demand fromEurope and East Asia ," Ng said.  TOP 10 ANNOUNCED While the top 100 companies in the survey were selected to receive the SME100 awards, the most outstanding 10 were also named. When you think about how far the country has come, it is heartening to see how the lives of people have improved through these projects," said Gunaprasath. As a precursor to the award ceremony held at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa this evening, the MPPA held a Roundtable Discussion on Creative Home Ownership Post Budget 2018 at the MPN office last month. The panel discussion addressed the issue of home ownership among Malaysians, including the question of affordability for the younger generation, what property developers can do to help young Malaysians get a foot into the property market and the importance of housing for improving productivity. KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, June 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Riding on the waves of innovatingMalaysia's real estate industry, Pepite Technology Sdn Bhd is announcing their newly launched property cashback platform,PropRebate.com <https://proprebate.com/>, a service that assists home buyers towards purchasing their dream property in efforts on simplifying and shortening the long and tedious processes that goes along with it.  <https://photos.prnasia.com/prnh/20180611/2159406-1> PropRebate.com aims to shorten the already time-consuming process of property acquisition to bring about convenience and cash back opportunities to home buyers. With the local real estate industry being somewhat unshaken by the ever evolving technological revolution over the past years, the overall structure of the industry has proven outdated and inconvenient, causingGadiy Lim, the co-founder ofBumbung.co alongside Chief Technology Officer Ped Rahmati, who previously served as the Director of Software Engineering at Monster Technologies Malaysia to bring about the positive change with the disruption of the property purchasing processes by combining a few steps and creating value through cashback benefits. PropRebate aims to bring about time and cost efficiency for property buyers by directly keying in their requirements and connecting them with our vast network of sellers and agents which has 5 relevant listings. With the buyer's knowledge, a quick check with the bank will verify thebuyers for their ability to attain a mortgage loan, improving the quality of each buyer. For the first time, buyers will no longer be left in the dark knowing that their loan may be rejected (which actually affects the buyer's ability of attaining a loan next time). The verification of buyers in the buyers report generated byPropRebate will be a bargaining point for Seller's to act swiftly to secure a serious buyer. A buyer could also request a property that they have already been eyeing on by getting in touch withPropRebate to notify them, the property's agent / seller will be contacted byPropRebate to invite them on to the platform. Once a property is bought / sold, the buyer uploads their copy of the stamped and signed Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) to PropRebate.com and can benefit on the additional cash back fromPropRebate (starting from MYR1,500 for the smallest property price ofMYR300k). "We understand what property buyers are going through and with today's listing platforms, the buyers are faced with too much noise among the hundreds of thousands of listings which does not help to make home finding easier but instead adds on to time consumption. Fortunately, we took this as an opportunity to create something valuable for our buyers. By innovating the purchasing process that buyers and sellers have to deal with, we ultimately shorten the property acquisition process down to as little steps as possible," said Gadiy, co-founder ofProprebate. The platform also secondarily acts as a support system to local real estate agents as a lead generation engine, guaranteeinghassle-free deals with serious buyers. When asked about if it's removing Agents out from the property deals, Lim responded, "PropRebate does not remove them, but we engage them for their professional services of handling the opening of premises, deposits and the conveyance of the property." "The real estate industry has not been impacted by disruption and has grown to become a market with an infinite supply. We see this as an advantage; our aim is to quickly be the market leader for demand (buyer's). We've seen a positive take as we've successfully seen 4 of 5 buyers go on their first property viewing within the same week," added Lim. For home seekers looking to experience the latest in Malaysian property technology services in purchasing a home can do so by heading over to PropRebate.com from the June 1 onwards. KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, July 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Crisis Management Centre recently shared industry experiences to communications students at Manipal International University (MIU). The university, which has taken data analytics seriously with its inclusion in a dedicated data driven MBA, was a natural choice for the Crisis Management Centre who prides itself on the application of social media data in managing perception during a crisis. <https://photos.prnasia.com/prnh/20180720/2192230-1> Nordin Abdullah, Founder of the Crisis Management speaking at Manipal International University Data Driven Crisis Management is widely seen as the cutting edge of the industry which has seen an increase in demand following major shifts in the political and business landscapes both inMalaysia and around the region. "Data is a double edged sword, even the likes of Mark Zuckerberg have found this out in recent times, and following the'shock defeat' of Hillary Clinton in the US Presidential election the metaphorical witch hunt was underway, who were the data scientists and how did they get their information? The list of questions goes on but one thing is for sure is that data gained by listening to what people think or want can no longer be ignored, during a crisis that data is just coming at a faster rate than a normal work day." Stated Nordin Abdullah who recently established the Crisis Management Centre.   "In the past a crisis could be managed in isolation, you get your internal team together, good people that know what they are doing their fields and you roll out your crisis management plan for those who have one and for those who don't you scramble to put together a few next steps and action points.  As a decision maker you will naturally want all the information possible," continued Nordin who is also an EXCO member of the Malaysia Australia Business Council.    Now with the element of social pressure, "Enter the armchair expert who has a few thousand followers on twitter or Instagram and they commented on your crisis or even worse they are the person who broke the story by broadcasting it on Facebook Live. At the same time the algorithms that Google or Facebook use start to see this topic as something interesting so by the end of the day everyone including the authorities know what's going on, human curiosity and desire to know what's going on will mean your organisation needs to respond," c ontinued Nordin who is also an EXCO member of the Malaysia Australia Business Council. "We are pleased to have high-level industry experts share their time with our students. The Manipal Education Group has been responsible for producing some of the brightest minds inAsia for the past 60 years. Public and private collaboration between Cradle and Proficeo proved success in helping Malaysian technology start-ups to scale-ups KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Malaysian technology-based companies are growing from strength-to-strength with the help of experienced mentors and coaches from the Coach and Grow Programme (CGP). The CGP is a public-private partnership between Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (Cradle) and industry partner, Proficeo, and is designed to bring together key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to support and fortify technology entrepreneurs scale their businesses to greater heights. The programme, which started in 2011, has helped 469 companies and 1,657 entrepreneurs to date. 103 companies completed the fourth Season of the programme which was concluded inOctober 2018. 64% of the companies participating in Season 4 are from the growth and global stages of growth while the remaining 36% were early-stage companies. Proficeo co-founder and CEO Renuka Sena said, "Over the past 4 Seasons, we have coached technology companies from multiple industries and in Season 4, we also accepted brick and mortar companies who were looking at technology adoption strategies to grow their businesses. What we have seen time and again is that individualised Coaching can assist founders from any stage of growth, industry verticals and now even brick and mortar SMEs, to build sustainable scalable businesses and go on to successfully raise funds for growth. We track the growth of companies using their revenue and other business metrics to help them scale and in doing so, the graduates from the CGP have collectively to date, generatedRM2.034 Billion in revenue with many doubling their growth during and post Coaching. Of this,RM275 million is Export Revenue generated by CGP companies who have collectively successfully penetrated 103 new export markets since joining the programme." She added, "In the CGP, the key performance indicator (KPI) used to track growth is revenue. This is because it is important for companies to grow their revenue to fuel growth internally. Whilst investments are not a KPI that we use to measure success, we do track investments raised by participants and to date, CGP participants have raisedRM387.2 Million in Funds. This validates the CGP model because when companies can show that they are able to increase their revenues, private investors are more willing to provide funds for growth." Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Cradle, Razif Abdul Aziz said the CGP was instrumental in helping good companies become great performers and regional and global players. "Coaches involved in the CGP have done an incredible job of helping these companies find their niche and maximise their true potential. And this is only possible because all the CGP coaches are entrepreneurs, investors or senior management from corporateMalaysia who have experienced first hand, how to build companies from the ground up. It is this advice and guidance from experienced coaches that is invaluable at accelerating the growth of Malaysian companies," he said. Amongst some of the notable companies that have gone through the programme include SubHome Management Sdn Bhd, a hospitality company that manages luxury service suites in prominent locations. The company is redesigning the hotel experience, switching small, constricted rooms for spacious, comfortable suites at the same rates. SubHome Co-Founder, Sandeep S. Grewal said, "There were many takeaways from the CGP program for an entrepreneur with over 12 years of starting and running my own businesses. One of them was a segment where we drilled down to manage the finances of the company in such a manner where we are on top of the business and constantly driving it and not just reacting to the environment on a daily basis and firefighting every day. It was only after we did this, did we find clarity in our direction and it was easy for Investors to understand our business path. Another take away was the amazing support and guidance from the coaches and the team. Business is a lonely path but with the experience and guidance we have gotten throughout CGP, we learned so much on market information that would have taken us years to learn on our own. Last September, ECM Libra Financial Group Sdn Bhd and Tune Group Sdn Bhd via their joint venture Tune Plato Ventures Sdn Bhd have acquired a 50% stake in SubHome Management Sdn Bhd. AppCable Sdn Bhd, another CGP company this season is the leading provider of a great payment source for the parking industry introduces JomParking as the on-demand and prepaid mobile payments for the street parking using smartphones. Muhamad Nasir Habizar, Founder of JomParking said, "Prior joining CGP, although we had received funding, we faced a period of stagnant growth due to the fact that we hadn't planned our marketing strategy well enough to acquire new users. However, during CGP program, the coaches taught us the best approach to manage both our product and consumers growth strategies. We are thankful for the guidance provided as we attained better plans for marketing and user acquisition. Therefore, we would highly recommend those who struggle with stagnation of growth to apply for CGP Program." Another promising participant is the company behind online platform, Signature Snack Sdn Bhd. Signature Snack makes healthy living accesible and affordable to all via its range of healthy snacks at wholesale prices. Its Founder, Edwin Wang said, "During CGP, the coaches let us see a lot of possibilities beyond what we already had. There were many good strategies that may not be applicable immediately but what we learnt helped us build a 3-5 years plan with a clear idea of our  growth possibilities." He also added, "We were also given a chance to be part of Investor Readiness Programme (IRP) where we secured two investors during demo day. Our coach was amazing as the advice led us to this success. I will definitely recommend IRP to all companies who wish to raise funds as it is very brilliantly designed to advance your knowledge about how VC works, what they're looking for and how to pitch your story to raise funds.  Those who are interested to join CGP may visit www.cgp.com.my <http://www.cgp.com.my/> for more information and to register your interest.
